The following selection of case studies indicates the breadth and scope of typical services offered by Silicon Bridge

Case Study 1: Economic Evaluation
Requirement The strategic plan and business case for a major health software project for a consortium of health authorities depended on accurate estimates of the cost and timescale of software delivery, of controlled risk, and of acceptability to users.
Solution Silicon Bridge Research planned and completed a research programme to support the business case and management strategy. This examined assumptions and risks, and re-estimated software deliverables. Financial, technical, user and management interviews were undertaken. Results included an alternative model for software estimates, confirmation of findings and recommendations to senior staff regarding project management to help the client manage their supplier.
Case Study 2: System Integration
Requirement Order Communication Systems are seen to be the key to EPR hospital information support systems. There are clearly many different approaches and many obstacles (both technical and organisational) to their implementation. The NHS and IT systems suppliers were concerned to understand precisely the nature of the real OCS market and the differences between approaches to system integration.
Solution Silicon Bridge Research proposed an EPR research programme which was accepted by the NHS and by all the main hospital system suppliers. Research was carried out among users, potential users and suppliers. Two reports; "Opportunities in Order Communication Systems" and "Systems Integration in the NHS" gave a comprehensive analysis of attitudes and requirements for progress in this market.
"Network Opportunities" examined communications internet and email in healthcare.
Case Study 3: Marketing Approach
Requirement Healthcare IT systems suppliers with a record of success in the UK market require advice on how to develop their markets further, either with existing or new products.
Solution Silicon Bridge provide marketing assistance and workshops to many leading suppliers for marketing strategies, market information, detailed studies of market opportunities / competition and help with tactical marketing campaigns.
Projects include many sector and country studies on secondary care, primary care, departmental systems and financial control in UK, Europe and Australasia.
Case Study 4: Prescribing System
Requirement A major UK PLC had developed a prescribing system and needed to assess the possibilities of exploiting this development in other parts of the NHS.
Solution Silicon Bridge specialists researched growth and opportunities in the prescribing market and assessed the chances of success of the client's system. An action plan specified how to maximise opportunities and minimise the risk of entering this market.
Case Study 5: Clinical Software
Requirement NHS hospitals need an impartial and convenient reference to all clinical software currently available.
Solution Silicon Bridge undertook a sponsored study of specialist software products and suppliers for the NHS. This material was used as the basis for a pilot web directory to assess feasibilty of a Europe-wide approach.
Case Study 6: European Healthcare IT
Requirement As the European market for Healthcare IT evolves, there is a growing need for reliable insight into eHealth developments, including market information, briefings and metrics
Solution Silicon Bridge, working in collaboration with Deloitte in Belgium, secured €1.5million of funding over 3 years to undertake primary and secondary research in Healthcare IT across all the major European markets.  Access to the results of this work is now available through the Silicon Bridge European Series of market reports.
Case Study 7: Government Sponsored Research
Requirement A major UK Government department was tasked with increasing general awareness of the emerging market for eHealth and identifying associated commercial opportunities in a UK and European market context.
Solution Silicon Bridge recruited a consortium of 6 commercial sponsors, together with one leading academic research institution and two professional associations. These organisations worked with Silicon Bridge to contribute to a wide ranging eHealth research study, co-sponsored by DTI and the NHS. A conference was hosted by DTI in London and a full report produced addressing key strategic issues including:

   - Scoping eHealth opportunities
   - Managing eHealth system complexity
   - Encouraging eHealth strategic collaboration
Case Study 8: Market Due Diligence
Requirement A rapidly expanding and technically innovative UK supplier of clinical solutions to the NHS and international markets required private funding for expansion plans and possible acquisitions.
Solution A leading financial institution was identified to provide the necessary funding through investing in the company. Silicon Bridge worked with the company to help clarify business plans and strategic objectives for the NHS market. In the due diligence phase, Silicon Bridge provided confirmation for the financial institution regarding:
